Awake at 4 a.m

My mum has gone.

As I am not a child now
Magic is something I don't notice
But today I listened to words of magic
And now I am expecting
Magical things.

Feeling lost

There are times when feeling lost
I wonder if I will ever be found.
Then a wise person comes
And says just what is needed
And I discover I was never lost
I was just waiting.

At home today cleaning.
Not liking it, I nearly stopped to have a sherry.
Keeping going I had dust free glass bottles,
Carpet with track marks from the hoover
And a cleanish kitchen floor.
So what?

Marriage

I am celebrating being
with the same man
for three decades.
It makes me grin.

Discovery

Going through cupboards and boxes
To make space for more things
And finding things that have meant so much.
Hand knitted hats for tiny babies
Huge boxes of lego
And bags of Sindy dolls.
Will we save them for vaguely thought of grandchildren?
